“I still have my school tie and prefect's badge although some of the enamel has come off this. Also, I have 4 needlework exercise books containing sewing procedures & diagrams; patches & darning; and samples of different materials we had to collect. Miss Reeve was a very good teacher and through her I gained my GCE 'O' level in needlework and provided me with a good background for dressmaking over the years, making dresses for my mother, sister, mother-in-law and many outfits for my two daughters in their young days. I can remember that when needing to use a sewing machine in class, I always hoped that a hand machine was available so that I didn't have to use the treadle one as when putting my foot on the pedal it invariably went backwards instead of forwards!”
